best: it was raining out, but we attended our first nyrr running class at central park this evening. i still can hardly believe that the reknowned bob glover was our coach and came out with us in this pouring rain (!!). i ran 3 sets of 1600m at 7:35 mile pace with 3 min jogging in between, with a half mile warm up and cool down. first lap felt quick, second lap felt breezy, and final lap felt a bit too slow.
worst: pretty great start to the day waking up at 4:30am (jetlag) and enjoying some slow time with kevin in the morning over coffee and congee. as today was month-, quarter-, and year-end for our firm, and my first day back at the office, it was hectic to say the least, but good. it felt good to be back, catching up with clients and colleagues, and getting my product back out. unfortunately a last minute meeting with a senior salesperson turned my entire day around and i arrived at practice pretty upset and defeated. 34 years old, and i'm still learning to manage stress - actually it seems to get harder as i get older. but hopefully i can put it behind me and move on by morning.
smile: haven't trained with a team in 15 years, and totally forgot how great it feels to have the coaching, camaraderie, and competition. i'm really looking forward to getting out for our race this saturday and to the next class. and i think my goal will be to move up comfortably by the end of these 8 classes from my current pace group.
