today was my most miserable day of allergy symptoms in what feels like years. from morning to night, i experienced throbbing sinuses, serious congestion, uncontrollable sneezes, and a non-stop runny nose. my coworker gave me an allegra in the morning (24 hr non-drowsy over-the-counter pill), which contains the active ingredient, fexofenadine, an antihistamine, however, it made little difference and the symptoms persisted throughout the day and into the evening.
before bed, i was complaining how miserable i felt and how i was dreading trying to fall asleep, and kevin suggested i take a claritin-d (12 hr non-drowsy over-the-counter pill), which contains the active ingredients, loratadine, an antihistamine, and psuedophedrine, a decongestant.

i'm not sure whether it was the claritin-d, or the fact that it rained overnight, or the fact that temperatures dropped by 15 degrees overnight, but i had the best night of sleep in a couple of weeks, and woke up naturally at 6am, well before my alarm! go claritin-d!
