we've caught the bug

can't believe it! since the end of last year, when we became eligible to register for the marathon, i had been convinced that i was doing this race solely so that i could spend time with my husband, who really wanted to run it. and both of us thought that it would be our one and only marathon because the training was too demanding.

nearly a year later, we are really enjoying the structure in the training and seeing practice payoff! sometimes i still cannot believe that i really completed three full loops at central park - harlem hill is still frightening to me, but a little less so each time i'm able to get over a little quicker.

today kevin and i registered for our second full marathon, the asics la marathon, which will take place on sunday, march 15, 2014, starting from downtown la and ending in santa monica. it's a mostly downhill marathon, so with that will come different training techniques im sure and possibly, a better time!

hopefully it doesn't get too warm or sunny by then. the course and elevation maps are below.

i also came across this interesting study in the nytimes today - even more reason to get out there and exercise! it makes for a fit body and mind, and can help to minimize/ward-off feelings of depression.

best thing: discovering Maison kayser's kale and white bean tuscan soup! and it comes with a delicious seed or plain MK roll!

worst thing: a cold shower before bed. we learned the hard way last night that there is no hot water in the apt!

smile: the realization that i put our wedding anniversary two days early in my work calendar. kevin says as a result, he deserves leeway if he's ever off by a few days in the future. lol. i guess he has a point. october 6, 2013 :)
