a seaglass carousel of fiberglass fish rides opened in battery park city this week! we decided to take the little ones to visit the romance of the ride.
there are fish of all type - angelfish, butterflyfish, lionfish, fighting fish, and triggerfish, all created in luminescent colors and shades accompanied by operatic classical remixes. one of the unique features of this carousel is that there is no center pole seen in most traditional carousels, so that the under the sea experience is truly a seamless one. the fish rotate in multiple ways - up and down as well as in rotations based on three smaller turntables under the carousel, evoking similarities to the swim patterns of the actual fish.
it was a fun ride overall, for kids and adults! and below is a photo of my friends, elyse and susan, with their daughter, estella and kaira, respectively. we were having a mini-celebration for estella's three year old birthday, and she has demonstrated below how she applies her sunblock by herself :)
